Why routing is important in computer network

Routers perform two basic and important functions first they choose a proper path in given networks, and secondly, they transmit information packets by that path to the desired destination.  While doing so they draw on routing protocols and algorithms. With the help of these algorithms, plot routes are designed. Tables of conditions and availably of routes are created so that router can choose the most efficient path for each and every transmission.

When a router received a packet and opens it, router check its network destination address and calculates the next hop in the lowest-cost, route to the destination. A hop is measured through the passage of a packet from a router.

Routers may be a hardware or a software-based and mainly consist 3 layers in it to support multiple protocols besides Ip.  To form an internetwork they connect different kinds of networks together.  Routers of brands like Netgear are very easy to configure login to router login net start.
By using routers you are able to provide internet to all your mobiles laptops at your place. You can also block some specific computers or laptops from the internet connection and even block some websites according to your needs and requirements. For small and medium business end users routers are used as connective or intermediary devices.
